Brewer's Yeast and Valerian Root

I just got my brewer's yeast powder and valerian root capsules from GNC. I've said in previous posts I'm not a good sleeper, and I don't like to take sleeping pills that knock me out because I have a two year old who sometimes gets up in the night. SO...I've had prior experience with valerian root tea and remember that it was quite effective so I went and got the 500 mg capsules. It's fairly inexpensive, I paid just over 7 dollars for a 100 day supply. The brewer's yeast stinks. It's a disgusting rusty color and frankly I'm a little scared! But it's all in the name of health. I just have to think of some inoffensive way of sneaking it into my food.....any ideas???
I pigged out last night at about 2 am. Oh well, I'm not one to beat myself up over mistakes, I just try to do my best. Not sleeping well contributes to snacking. Hopefully the valerian root helps. If one is asleep, one cannot pig out on salat tangiers in the middle of the night:)
Ok, the plan is at 1750 calories today. I mapped it all out on the CRON-o-meter early this morning. I happened to be up at 6am since my toddler is an early riser. The little bugger.
On to the list of things I hope to accomplish this year:
1) Grow my hair out....uh this one's a no-go, I just love short hair. I was growing it for the DH...
2)Get in to nursing school
3)learn spanish
4)have a movie night once per week
5)collect 50 state quarters
6)Get a massage
7)Go to a rock concert (I used to go quite a bit, but since kids this has dwindled)
8)Start a blog (DONE!)
9)Lose 30 pounds
10)read a book a month
11)do a detox each season
12)knit a scarf for my son and my father
13)go to a play (Done, saw Wizard of Oz w/ my son)
14)be in more pictures
15)take a vitamin every day
16)learn a song or two on guitar
17)accessorize more, or should I say accessorize at all...
18)Bike to the library w/ the baby once a month
19)Remember birthdays
20)do 25 pushups

There it is. What's on your to-do list?

  1. I tried and tried to get into brewers yeast, but it just wasn't happening. I finally threw away my container not too long ago because I just could not do it. My mom mentioned she used to mix it into orange juice way back in the day - but even the thought of that gags me. I guess it might be better in savory stuff. -Ali
